If platelet count  is < 50 x103 /uL, the Immature Platelet Fraction (IPF) will reflex with an additional charge.

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions: 500 microliters of blood in a lavender EDTA Microtainer is also acceptable.

Includes WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, platelet count, NRBC, MPV, and 5-part automated differential (% absolute neutrophils, % lymphs, % monos, % eos, and % baso).

 

A manual, 100-cell differential count is available ONLY when generated by reflex criteria established by MBMC Laboratory. Notify Laboratory if ADD ON manual differential is ordered by physician (EPIC CODE: LAB6668) within 24 hours of collection. All alert values will be called and documented.If an abnormal value or flag is triggered on the initial patient specimen, a manual smear will always be reviewed. Any subsequent specimen within 72 hours will be verified by the “Consistent Rule” unless there is a change in the values and flags in which case a new smear review will be conducted.
