Cells enumerated by automated analyzer. Differential performed on smear prepared by cytocentrifugation method.

Adults: If white cells are >5 cells/mm in the cell count, a CSF Differential will be performed at an additional charge.

Pediatrics: If white cells are >5 cells/mm in the cell count, a CSF Differential will be performed at an additional charge.

Note: If a CSF Differential is required and unidentified cells are seen, the specimen will be referred to Histology for review.

Specimen must arrive within 30 minutes of collection.

Container/Tube: Clear, screw-capped, sterile, plastic tubes
Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL

Collection Information: Typically 4 tubes are received. Cell count will be performed on the last tube (tube #4).

Additional Information: Date and time of collection are required.
