Additional Codes
LAB5413
Methodology

Specimen Requirements
Call MBMC Hematology Laboratory at 314-996-5809 to obtain 2, 2-mL Griener Bio-One Vacuette tubes.
Specimen Type: Sodium citrate plasma
Container/Tube: 2-mL Griener Bio-One Vacuette tubes
Alternate Tube(s): None
Specimen Volume: 2 Full tubes
Collection Instructions: Do not centrifuge. Clotted blood or an insufficient specimen is not acceptable.
Additional Information: Avoid hemolysis and heparin contamination of specimen.
Collection Procedure:
Attention to collection procedure is necessary to avoid inaccurate results, collect as follows:
1. Draw a discard tube (volume depends on type of venous access).
2. Draw 2 Griener blue-top tubes. Do not overfill or under fill.
3. Forward promptly at ambient temperature. Do not send Greiner blue-top tube through the pneumatic tube system.
