Lymphocyte stimulation in cell culture
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Whole Blood
Container/Tube: Collect Dark Green (Sodium Heparin) tubes - 30-40 mL of blood in green (sodium heparin) topped tubes. Call sendout dept to obtain the 10mL tubes. Gently invert several times to mix and prevent clotting. DO NOT centrifuge.
Specimen Volume: Full tube
Specimen Minimum Volume: 20 mL for Pediatrics
Specimen Preparation: DO NOT centrifuge.
Unacceptable Conditions:
Centrifuged specimens, specimens received after 24 hours of draw, frozen specimens, specimens in lithium heparin, specimens in tubes with gel such as SST's and PSTs.
Specimen Transport Temperature
Ship at ambient temperature Priority Overnight via FedEx and in a well insulated container.
