APRIL 25, 2025 NOTE:  Due to reagent supply issues, the Mayo test continues to be down. The duration of the test down for test code POXA1 is expected to be >30 days. Notification will be provided when testing resumes. MBMC will send to QUEST in the interim. LAB5328 is routed to MAYO but needs manually ordered/sent to Quest.

This test can only be collected at MBMC OP Lab.  Collect a red top tube, place on ice and send STAT to the lab.  Process within 1 hour of collection.

2 mL serum collected in a red-top tube (no-gel)

Plasma collected in: Sodium heparin (green-top) tube

Minimum Volume

0.7 mL

Collection Instructions

Promptly centrifuge with refrigeration and separate serum or plasma into chilled plastic screw-cap vial using approved guidelines.

Note: Ascorbic acid at very high concentration (exceeding 51 mcmol/mL plasma) can interfere.

Reject Criteria

Received room temperature • Sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate (gray-top) tube • Serum separator tube (SST) • Polymer gel separation tube
