Methodology

FISH

RB1 (13q14 del) is found in about 50% of CLL/SLL cases and is usually associated with a predominantly mutated IgVH gene status and a favorable response to chemotherapy. IGH/CCND1 t(11;14) stratifies patients as likely mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and is usually associated with an unfavorable response to chemotherapy. p53 (17p13) monosomy is usually associated with an unfavorable response to chemotherapy.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive at GenPath within 24 hours of collection.

Causes for Specimen Rejection:

-No patient ID on specimen

-Patient ID on specimen and requisition doesn’t match

-Incorrect fixative (tube/solution)

-Specimen without GenPath/Bio-Reference requisition

-Frozen specimen
