Collection Instructions: Collection time is AFTER dose administration as follows:

-Intramuscular: 1 hour

-Intravenous: 30 minutes after infusion (Check with nurse for length of infusion. PEAK and TROUGH levels should be scheduled around the same dose.)

-STAT blood specimen is drawn immediately

-BASELINE blood specimen is drawn at time specified by physician

  • UTI/GPC synergy: 3-5 mcg/mL
  • Systemic illness: 6-8 mcg/mL
  • Sepsis: 8-10 mcg/mL
  • GPC synergy refers to the synergistic effect of aminoglycosides with other antibiotics in treating infections caused by gram positive cocci (e.g. Enterococcus).
