HPV High Risk and Genotyping 16 & 18

Important Note

Epic users:  Place orders using the Cervical Can Screening order sets. 

Vaginal HPV's will be sent to Mayo Medical Laboratory for testing.

Testing Algorithm

If the ordered test is HPV as primary (HPV High Risk and Genotyping 16 /18 with reflex to PAP), Cytology, Liquid Based PAP will reflex if HPV is Detected.

Specimen Requirements

Call Missouri Baptist Medical Center Laboratory at 314-996-4222 option 3 to request the Cytology Requisition.

 

Specimen Type: Cervix, endocervix, vagina
Container/Tube: Thin Prep Vial with PreservCyt solution

Specimen Volume: Adequate sampling

Collection Instructions:

1. Rinse appropriate collection devices into PreservCyt solution vial.

2. Label vial with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and actual time of collection, and source of specimen.
