Specimen Requirements
Collection Container/Tube: Gold top with Gel, Serum
Submission Container/Tube: Plastic vial
Minimum Collection Volume: 1.5mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Immediately after specimen collection, place the tube on wet ice.
2. Centrifuge at 4° C, 1500 x g for 10 minutes.
3. Aliquot serum into plastic vial.
4. Within 2 hours of collection, freeze specimen.
Transport Temperature
Ship frozen SERUM next day delivery on dry ice M-Thr only. Do not ship to arrive on Federal holidays.
May also ship ambient with room temperature gel packs (or other cushioning materials) but must be received within 24hrs of collection.
Mayo Medical Laboratory will foward specimen for testing to Children's Hospital

Order the MML Misc Blood to Mayo with the Mayo Test ID of "ZW1 VEGF-D Quantitation (VEGF-D)". Add the CPT code for the miscellaneous sendout test to be billed. Transfer the test the test in the LIS to Mayo.
In Mayo Access the Unaswered Questions must be answered to make the Batching Status Ready.
